To be a good fit for the Accounts Payable Clerk opportunity, you will have:
  • A high school diploma or GED; a bachelor's or associate's degree in Accounting or some accounting college-level accounting coursework is preferred
  • A year of accounts payable experience, ideally in a financial institution, is preferred but not required
  • The ability to understand basic accounting principles and procedures (e.g. accounts payable and receivable; credits, deferrals and accruals; asset accounts, etc.)
  • Solid computer and software skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong and accurate keyboarding/data entry and 10-key skills

You will come into the office two or three days a week and our return-to-work plans are not finalized at this point. Reporting to the Controller, you will join a team in Tampa that also includes portfolio accountants. This team is part of the larger Accounting organization, which is based in Chicago. The Tampa team provides outsourced accounting services for clients. These are property companies for whom we also provide property management services.

Days will be busy, and you'll primarily be responsible for A/P processing and a good deal of review (i.e. processing payment, coding invoices, ensuring coding is correct, vendor payments are issued correctly, etc.). Quick question for you - click here More specifically, you will:
  • Perform maintenance of the accounts payable vendor files
  • Maintain paid invoice file
  • Make general ledger code assignments and issue accounts payable checks
  • Track forecasting identification codes
  • Maintain the outstanding check listing
  • Maintain stop/void check log
  • Reconcile various general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and balances member/corporate disbursement check reports
  • Ensure full compliance with UNIFY Financial Credit Union Service Standards
  • Ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act
  • Perform other duties as assigned
